How to Create app shortcut to login screen in Ubuntu?

Hi, I’m very new to Linux systems, just getting started with some basic terminal magic.

I’m currently trying to figure out if it is possible to create an app shortcut (e.g. Skype) directly on the login screen, allowing someone to launch a specific app with one simple click.

The PC will be used by my great-grandparents with absolute zero knowledge/understanding of anything computer related, using Skype to stay in touch with family/friends.

For the past months, we had a simple user account without a password. But clicking on the username, finding Skype (huge icon doesn’t help), starting the app, etc. just seems to fail most of the time. I really don’t mind helping out and explaining each step multiple times a week, but if there is a way to make it even easier to access, that would be a massive time saver for everyone.

So I want to try the most simple approach possible: start PC, click on skype icon, accept incoming call.

What are my options here?

I’m on 20.04 LTS
