Issue with ALSA and PulseAudio

Hi, I have an HP Pavilion that I recently installed ubuntu on and am having audio issues. Basically, the speakers are very quiet if I do not activate the over-amplification and when I plug in the headphones I can hear a very annoying cracking noise.
The funny thing is that if I purge alsa-base and pulseaudio, restart, reinstall and restart the problem is solved for a while, both speakers and headphones.
The problem returns after a short time, I’m not sure why. I imagine it could be when turning it off and on again or perhaps after using an audio editing program.

Anyone know what might be happening? If it’s something from the drivers or something with no direct solution, is there a way to “clean” alsa and pulseaudio without uninstalling and reinstalling each time? Thank you!
